A Single Stone Where Blood Of 69 Brothers Flow In A Day By Adegboyega Okuneye

One of the huge tragedies of life highlighted in the Bible occurred in the family of Gideon shortly after his death, as rivalry for political dominance motivated his son by a concubine who conspired against his seventy half brothers. 

Who is Gideon? 

The book of Judges Chapters 6-8, introduced the life and times of Gideon who ruled Israel as a judge for forty years. 

Gideon was the father of 70 Sons known also as Jerubbaal the Son of Joash the Abiezrite, who had an encounter with an angel that disclosed his real identity to him as the “mighty man of valor”. 

This angelic encounter threw up a fundamental question, namely: 

• Do you know your real identity in life? 

Who you are and why you are here. 

Until you know these salient facts about yourself you may lack the competence and capacity to fulfill your purpose here on earth as ordained by God. 

Unfortunately, several persons in Christendom are toiling ignorantly daily unsuccessfully to become who and what God did not ordain them to be.

Like Gideon are you in doubts about your real identity? As indicated by his questions to the angel as follows:

• If the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? 

• And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about?  

While an angelic assistance helped Gideon to discover the reality about himself, you may lack that luxury since the Word and the Holy Ghost are now here with us. 

Here Are Seven Facts About Gideon: 

• Industrious and secretive

• Mighty man of valor 

• Religious 

• Intelligent and reasonable 

• Believer in Jehovah 

• Obedient to God's Call 

• Humble and submissive 

Before his death he relapsed into idolatry in error as the golden ephod he made became an object of idolatrous worship.

In Judges chapter 9, Abimelech the Son of Gideon by a concubine collaborated with his mother’s people at Shechem, to violently eliminate his half brothers and 69 of them were slaughtered on a single stone in one day of lamentation and sorrow, save the youngest Son who escaped with her nurse. They were killed to secure his undisturbed reign over the land. 

Evil personalities will not shed your blood as sacrifice for greatness, in Jesus name.

While Joseph escaped death by household wickedness, like the youngest Son of Gideon, the 69 brothers were defeated unto death on a single stone. 

Household wickedness is a reality that could not be wished away nor dismissed by a wave of the hand. The Lord declares a man's enemies shall be of his household. So embrace spiritual vigilance.
