The Emergence Of Blood Thirsty Queen Of Judah, By A.K. Okuneye.

The household is a place of refuge from external storms and socio political upheavals. A citadel of love and domestic harmony, where members clear hurdles on the path of individual advancement, in pursuit of collective development.

Indeed, it is where charity begins from, a great and successful household precedes a great and successful external exploits.

However, as a double edge sword, the household is a potentially lethal and destructive unit, where great destinies encounter hostilities resulting in fatality and burials.

Unhealthy rivalries, envy, quest for power or control, pride and destructive competitions have motivated householders against each other. Grandparents against grandchildren, parents against children and the children against themselves.

Here is the biblical accounts of a true life story of the ruthless path adopted by a grandmother, in her ungodly quest for political power, instead of any of her several eligible grandsons.

The circumstances which heralded the emergence of the only Queen in the history of Judah, are not only tragic but most unfortunate. The relevance today is instructive and educative, so that contemporary Christians will not walk ignorantly into the potentially dangerous traps of deep household wickedness in this generation.

The unrestrained appetite for direct political power motivated a grandmother, who violently sacrificed all her grandsons eligible for the throne of Judah, on whose precious blood she ascended the throne.

Any weapon of the wicked, fashioned against your life, will surely eliminate its owners, in Jesus name.

There are several persons around you with unrestrained appetite for greatness, be prayerfully vigilant, so that your blood will not lay the foundation for evil greatness, in Jesus name.

Every evil queen, delegated to step upon your blood onto the throne, will stumble and die, in Jesus name.

Queen Athaliah was described as follows at page 402, para. “a” Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible:

The only ruling queen of Israel and Judah. She was a grand daughter of Omri (2 Chronicles 22:2) and the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel. Her marriage was reportedly a significant part of satanic agenda, to introduce idolatry into Judah, like Jezebel did to Israel.

Similarly, a dissenting view on the paternity of queen Athaliah was provided at page 139, para.1, Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary as follows:

Wife of Jehoram, King of Judah, and mother of Ahaziah, King of Judah. She was either the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel of Israel (2 Kings 8:18) or of Omri, King of Israel (2 Kings 8:26), who reportedly introduced the northern court's devotion to Baal into Judah.

King Jehoshaphat allegedly approved the marriage of his son Jehoram, to the Idolatress daughter of Israel’s worst rulers, Ahab and Jezebel, a Union which subsequently elevated idolatry successfully, as Kingdom religion in Judah.

With her antecedents as a princess in the northern Kingdom of Israel, idolatry and the dominant ruthlessness of Jezebel, must have diluted her perception of godliness, morality, power and relationships.

Jezebel’s ruthlessness at crushing perceived oppositions to her political influence, was visibly extraordinary in the life of Athaliah, whose supportive roles as the King’s wife and mother at different eras could not satisfy her huge appetite for direct political power.

She was reportedly very influential politically, during the reign of her son, which lasted just a year. However, to extend her grips on power and the attendant political influence, she regarded her grandsons as threats and obstacles that must be ruthlessly eliminated.

The blood thirsty exploits of a heartless grandmother, who claimed the throne of Judah for six bloody years, at the expense of her eligible and innocent grandsons are indicated in 2 Kings 11: 1-3, amidst her urge for violence and destruction, divine favor and grace kept alive Joash, the youngest son of Ahaziah who eventually succeeded his ruthless and bloody grandmother.

The rage of household wickedness, will not consume you, in Jesus name.

Is there any justification or moral ground for the action of the grandmother?
